So it's been a while, but a couple weeks ago we left Abby with my sister and her family while Brian and I went to Washington to see his brother graduate from culinary school. You'd think they would've had food there. It was really a shame, but it was a fun graduation. Not at all the dull and boring variety. Made me want to go to culinary school, and maybe one day I will. Brian was certainly not opposed. It was weird being without Abby, but also really nice. They took great care of Abby. She didn't really mind when we left and she was just happy to see us, but not overly. She waved when we walked in. :-)
Abby was a little under the weather before we left and has been that way since. Yesterday was its peak, but today after taking her to the doctor she's doing much better. Yesterday we also got the offer from the university, so now we just need to make sure all the t's are crossed and i's are dotted and sign our life away. We're excited. Really excited. Brian defends his dissertation in about 2 weeks! Go Brian!

Grandparent/Aunt Visit in January
So apparently it's been a wicked long time since we've written anything. But here are some photos from when Hartman Grandparents and Auntie came to visit.

Grandma's Visit and Some Extra
I think Abby is probably the most intelligent and thoughtful baby in the world. Today I was doing laundry and Abby always helps by pushing the basket into the laundry room, taking out clothes and handing them to me so I can put them in the washer, closing the dryer door and laundry door when we're done, and of course taking the clothes out of the basket after they're done and putting them on the floor. This all is pretty awesome for a one year old, however, today she pushed her helpfulness over the edge. I had put some clothes on the edge of the bed while I went and opened the appropriate drawers, and Abby walked in, saw me opening the drawers, went over to the bed picked up one thing and brought it over to me! It was awesome. I think I have a good helper on my hands here.
Tomorrow should be a fun day going to Cub Scout's baptism, and to the Stat Family picnic. We're looking forward to some free BBQ.
Finally, we're posting pictures from when grandmom came to visit. We had a great time, and Abby adjusted just fine to another person in the house, especially after grandmom gave her a couple pieces of snickerdoodle. Enjoy the pics.

Baby Walking
Also, for those of you who are making media choices for kids or yourself, I've found a good website called commonsensemedia.org. It covers movies, games, websites, music, TV, and books. Give it a look, and hope it helps.

New Skill
Abby's doing well pushing the chairs around the apartment. She has rearranged our chairs many times. Today was awesome. She took quite a few steps today. She's pretty wobbly, but she's on her way to walking. We're stunned, but it's really cool. Hope you enjoy!
