Barbarian Visit

Barbie had her baby Alexander Brian a few weeks ago (he'll be 4 weeks on Monday) and I got to go up this week and help her out. It was my first time driving for a long time by myself and with Abby, so I was a little nervous about it. We were lucky though. It poured so hard I had to use the fastest wiping speed, and we hydroplaned so bad we fish-tailed in both directions, but made it safely. It was tons of fun to visit. We got some good pics while we were up there of the cousins. I forgot what it was like to have a newborn. They're tough. The whole family's doing really well though. Hailey is a really good big sister and is so excited to have a brother. It's really cute. Coming back though was uneventful. In fact, I got back way faster than I anticipated, and Abby slept almost the whole way. What a good girl.

So Brian had almost the whole week without us. We webcammed with each other and talked on the phone and that was fun. Abby got a lot better at sitting up while we were there, although she generally falls over whenever she gets excited about anything. She does a great face plant, but doesn't seem to mind too much. She sure is growing up fast. I think while we visited she got way more sociable. She just loved Barbie to death! Anytime she spoke Abby was looking around for her. She's quite the smiler these days.

Oh yeah! And we also had another car accident! Brian was alone this time coming back from the store. A freshman girl from A&M didn't really see him stopped and rear-ended him. Brian said she was very apologetic. Our bumper isn't bad though. Slightly bent downward and a little cracked but not too bad. This happened the night before I left to see Barb and Brian. I was worried I wouldn't be able to go, but it was all good. Brian's also been doing well in our family bracket. Luckily, Villanova won today so I'm in good shape, but it appears the family favors UNC and Connecticut, which are both number one seeds. It's definitely March Madness!

Children's Books Online

Ok, so if you have kids, or would like to read some books in another language at child level, then I've got a good website for you. Try the International Children's Digital Library. You can create an account there and save books that you like, even save the page that you were on last time you read. There seem to be a lot of books, and even though you may not find the really popular ones, it's still pretty awesome. This is the best one I've found so far, but Googling "online children's books" will bring you a few more. Enjoy!

Abber Caddabber (for real)!

This has changed our lives. Abby now does not stay still during diaper changes, sleeping, cries when she's taking a nap because she can't get off her stomach. This change occurred today and she will NOT stop. Yay Abby!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Maybe not the nicest of things to discuss, but, sucking boogers out of a baby's nose is something that I think all parents and babies hate. Brian has become quite adept at it, and yesterday, Abby was actually laughing while he was doing it. Yes, we do have a dream child. Sorry for the gross topic, but hey, at least it is festive. :-)

Ab Update

Abberoni is amazing us more everyday. I feel like we kind of had a lull there in the things that she can do, but man, she was picking up stuff. Here's what she's up to now:
  • Her voice - she makes some of the craziest and cutest noises. This has been going for the past couple of days. Yesterday we kept asking each other "Is she OK?" but she didn't seem like anything was really bothering her or making her really that happy. So, she now knows that she has a voice.
  • Tummy Time - she is getting up there! Her head is so high. You can stand a couple of feet away from her and she'll look up at you. She knows how to spin herself on her tummy, and is starting to be able to push herself backward. Yesterday she also was kicking her legs and on one of them we noticed that she got her hips off the ground. Crazy.
  • Sitting up - she's not there, but she is doing a great job if she's not interested in anything and doesn't move. :-) She does fine with a little support though. She can lean forward, push herself backward, but her side to side is a little rough.
Today she had her second round of shots and did really well. Last time she had the shots she was completely distressed (and really tired), but this time she cried, and when I held her she was fine. She even fell asleep on the way home. Phew.

As for Brian and I, were getting healthy again, just like Abby. We all got sick at the same time, but we're on the mend. Brian's actually at school today, which is a novelty, considering it's been about a week. Since I've finished my classes I'm now Brian's secretary, booking him a hotel for one of his many trips this summer, and starting work on his web site. Hopefully it will be looking pretty snazzy before too long. And congrats to my sister who just had her first boy last Monday. My niece is really excited to have a brother! Hope everyone's doing well. It sure is hard to stay healthy in this 82 degree weather.

Solids!

So we decided to try Abby on the rice cereal today since she turned four months on the second. She hated more than she hates her medicine! She contorted her face so much. We thought it was so funny. Oh well. We'll try again later. We think she did actually eat some of it though. We'll keep you posted on how it goes!

Celebrate Good Times...

So it's finally happened. I know. You all thought you might not ever see this day. And yet it is here. Jenn, finally, graduated! I finished my last class in February and rocked the final. It feels so good to be free! On Friday we also celebrated Brian not having to take any more classes! After this semester he can work solely on his dissertation, teaching, and of course, his actuarial exams. We got take out from Fish Daddy's here in town. It's wicked good and pretty cheap too. Take out I've decided is the best option on Friday/Saturday nights. Go in to the bar, tell them your name, check out, go home. Very sweet. We also got a movie for free from the University and watched that. All in all, a good celebration!

Abby turns four months tomorrow! You know what that means... Rice cereal!!! This morning she was staring at me as I was eating my cereal (not uncommon), and I put my spoon near her. She reached out to grab it, so I got her her own. Then I thought, I wonder what would happen if I put it near her mouth? She opened right up and started chomping on it. Cool! We'll let you know how this week goes. She sure is growing up fast!
